Raspberry Roger

T he card making started right after Mother's Day weekend of this year. First it was just crayons and a piece of paper, but over the months it evolved into stickers, stamps, and then glue with shapes and feathers. If homemade cards could heal the loved ones in our sweet three year old's life, no one would be sick. She approached her card making daily, as her contribution to helping Mr. Roger get better. And she said the sweetest prayers for him and his beautiful wife at almost every mealtime. And when they weren't home for her to deliver her handmade creations, tears. She wanted to go over every. single. day. She still does. But now, the cards are for Ms. Karen. We met Mr. Roger about 12 years ago. He and his wonderful wife have been our neighbors turned friends for over 10 years. They are the best. They come from the good generation of hard work, home grown fruits and veggies, and lending a hand whenever able. They are the reason that last summer, we had to keep an ey

The Waterslide

There we were, sitting in the backyard while the sun was shining down on us and the hum of the blower to the giant waterslide I purchased for our children was making me sick to my stomach. What. On. Earth. When the slide was fully blown up, it reached the top of our second story deck. It was a monstrosity, and it's grandness made me sick to my stomach. To top off the afternoon, our children didn't even like this new water feature. The water was too cold. The slide(s) were too fast. The pool in the bottom was too deep for one and too shallow for another. I had immediate buyers remorse. For about a year, I had been trying to convince the hubby that a playset would be a great addition to our backyard. He wasn't super keen on the idea, but he came around to it about a month and half earlier. We actually decided to have people chip-in for it as birthday gifts to our one year old if they asked for ideas. Well, a month had passed since her birthday, and still, no playset. There

Afternoon Tea for the Bride-to-Be

I don't know if it's the same nationwide, or if it's just in Washington State, but there is a distinct party season. Because of the inconsistency in our weather, most parties happen between May and September. These are prime months to host a party, because you don't have to worry about your guests getting completely drenched going to and fro. This year, we kicked off party season with an afternoon tea bridal shower. And it turned out so beautiful, just like our bride-to-be, Miss Olivia. Olivia likes diamonds and pearls, and all things fancy. She is a former queen, so it makes sense. Olivia also likes teacups and tearooms and little finger sandwiches, as you would expect a queen to. She is kind, patient, and a person I would trust in any situation. She is a lover of Jesus, the color pink, and all things girlie. In short, she is awesome, and I feel so blessed to be her friend. Here are some photos of the special day that we planned just for her. Welcome table in

American Foursquare Renovation Before & After

Growing up, I attended private school in North Tacoma and completely romanticized the area. It has gorgeous views, amazing architecture, and just that classy old world charm. Fast forward to when I was in college and met my husband. I told him about all of the loveliness that North Tacoma offered, and aside from agreeing to get married there, he just didn't see it. When I said "North Tacoma," he saw "South Tacoma." For anyone that knows those two areas, they couldn't differ more. Over the past 10+ years, I have tried to win him over. Well guess what, I finally did! Together, with an investor, he snagged up this gem before I ever saw it. And when I walked in for the first time, I was all heart eyes. A classic American Foursquare, with that great foyer and staircase. Beautiful hardwoods throughout, and just charming. Obviously I was looking through my rose colored glasses, because even though the bones were great, she definitely needed a little sparkle and s
